Conference
The first annual Journey2Med conference is a free widening participation event aimed at boosting students' knowledge for the application process and guide them on how to be strong applicants.
Session 1: Thinking of Applying
This event consisted of a morning "thinking of applying" session which answered all the information applicants may need to consider before applying, such as what life as a student and doctor is like.
Session 2: Smash the Application Process
This was followed by a "smash the application process" session that covered top tips on all the sections of the application process such as the UCAT, interviews and personal statement.
Session 3: Question and Answer Panel
To end the conference, there was a Q&A panel consisting of medical students, doctors and QMUL admission staff, as well as a speech from Professor Caulfield, Vice Principal of Barts and The London.

I really enjoyed today all the speakers were very enthusiastic and were both realistic and very motivating.
I learnt that if plan A doesn't work it doesn't mean that you will not be able to do medicine.
I’m really glad I attended as this conference was different to many I have previously attended in terms of the fact that you provided knowledge above and beyond from what I could’ve found online.

I learnt the importance of resilience. Every single person's journey to med varied in different ways but none of them lacked resilience.
This conference showed me that medicine is truly your own journey and that you can write your own story.
I now definitely know I want to pursue medicine and am more confident.
